About MFLC
Our independent, secular non-profit preschool on the border of Scott Township and Mt. Lebanon, PA, has been providing children with opportunities for individual growth within a shared environment for 50 years. Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Mushroom aims to provide experiences that will help children develop a sense of connection with others and an awareness of the world around them. Our Philosophy
Since its inception in 1973, the philosophy of Mushroom Family Learning Center has been that each child is a unique individual who deserves a warm, secure environment that promotes a sense of wonder and discovery in learning. By providing a trusting and inclusive atmosphere with mutual respect between teachers and children, each child is free to grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and creatively. Everything we do at Mushroom is intended to support our primary mission to provide children with opportunities for individual growth within a shared environment, but parents and families are also key to our success. With parents comprising a majority of the Board of Directors, the Director and staff invite and strongly encourage parent participation in the decisions and activities of the school. There are five child development regional offices in Pennsylvania. Each regional office is responsible for childcare facilities located in specific counties grouped by geographic area. Concerns or complaints can be directed to the Western Regional Child Development Office at 1-800-222-2149.
